Day 1: AVN Porn Show
We kicked off our 8th year at the AVN Porn Show in Las Vegas this morning. We have a team from Seattle who is here on a missions trip to the city! They brought a group of 15 people who are committed to show the love of Jesus to each and every person they meet. I am the trip pastor, which basically means, I’m support. We started this morning in some sharing, devotional, and prayer before we loaded the van and went into the show. Today is an industry only day so we didn’t expect it to be that busy — wrong! I felt like their were double the people from last year.
Here’s a couple cool things:
1. The show overall is smaller this year. There are less exhibitors than last year. The recession is hurting porn.
2. A man who had a booth at the show, not sure exactly what he does:). I think he grows weed - i dunno know. Anyways, after coming over to our booth a few times through out the day he started to share with us about his faith. He was Muslim and said he wasn’t sure he should be taking one of our Bibles. He then said that he can’t help but come over and talk with us at that booth because more than any other Christian he had met it just seemed like we exuded love.
I thought this is Jesus. This is the disciples of Jesus.
3. About 3 people came up to me to follow up on conversation I had with them last year. Really cool.
4. Some of the girls I saw last year I don’t see this year — great!
5. Ron Jeremy finds our booth more comfortable than any other or at least he likes to hang with xxxchurch.
6. Craig has shingles.
7. Porn debate tomorrow afternoon between Craig and Ron at CES (Consumer Electronic Show)
8. My Jesus Loves Porn Stars tshirt must have shrunk from last year — should have tried it on in advance.

Jake, this is absolutely awesome! It is always AMAZING to see how XXXChurch works through this. Thank you for sharing. Just reading it gave me goose bumps.

Points 2, 3, 5 & 10 - outstanding! Point 8 = classic.
This is an amazing ministry that many don’t get, but I think it’s just over-the-top fantastic and gutsy. Love gutsy and it IS what Jesus would do. Thank you for being a part of XXX.
